Getting Started: Site Analyzer
The site analyzer tool allows you to analyze any website on demand. This is helpful for analyzing indirect competitors or other related websites to generate new ideas for keywords or pages for your own website.
Use Cases for the Site Analyzer Tool
Find New Keywords
While you may want to save your competitor monitoring dashboard for similar-sized websites to your own, you can use the Site Analyzer tool to explore larger competitors' websites.
Larger businesses/websites typically have more established digital marketing strategies and therefore rank for more keywords. By analyzing the strategies of larger websites, you can prioritize keywords and pages that you know will drive results.
💡Tip: Be sure to check for keyword difficulty to ensure you're going after reasonable keywords for your website. Smaller websites or teams may have a hard time successfully going after keywords with difficulty scores above 5/10.
Gain Insights from Indirect Competitors
One example of an indirect competitor could be one that doesn't directly offer the same products or services as your business, but ranks for the keywords that you're looking to rank for.
While it may not make sense to monitor this site ongoing in your competitor monitoring dashboard, it can be valuable to use the site analyzer tool to better understand how they're ranking for the keyword(s) that you would like to rank for.
💡Tip: take note of the different variations of the keyword-of-interest that their website is ranking for. Look for ways to integrate those keyword variations onto your page(s) to support the core keyword.
Benchmarking Content & Structure
Analyzing larger competitors, or similar websites, can give you a glimpse into what content structure(s) and pages drive performance for other sites.
When analyzing another site, be sure to take note of their website architecture so that you can build out your content in a way that's most effective for SEO.
Let's say that your homepage is ranking on page 4 for one of your core keywords. Looking at another site that's ranking on page one, you might find that they have a dedicated page for that keyword which is what's driving their higher rankings.
